Trump Blitzed By Boos at Washington Commanders Game

Date:

President Donald Trump was hit by a booming chorus of boos from fans at the Washington Commanders game on Sunday when he took the microphone and conducted a swearing in ceremony for members of the U.S. military.

The jeering blitz was caught by Fox News, which broadcast part of Trump’s address.

He was reading the U.S. Armed Forces Oath of Enlistment, but that did not stop fans at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland for voicing — or in this case, shouting — their displeasure.

The oath reads as follows:

I, (state name of enlistee), do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. (So help me God).”

Trump put a little extra oomph into the “So help me God!” as the loud razzing continued. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth was flanking Trump to his right as he read the oath.

He later told the Fox broadcast team it was an “honor” to swear in such a “tremendous group of young people.”

The cold reception probably should not come as much of a shock, considering how the surrounding areas voted. Former Vice President Kamala Harris (D) won more than 90% of votes in Washington, D.C., and she also received 62% of votes in Maryland. Harris also scored a victory in Virginia, although that margin was much smaller.

Conservative influencer Benny Johnson shared a clip of the fans booing Trump on X and said it “doesn’t get much more disrespectful than this.”

Trump also celebrated what he called the “greatest flyover ever” when he flew over the stadium before the Lions-Commanders game.
