Fire in southwest Gillespie County prompts evacuations

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A fire has begun to burn in southwest Gillespie County, off Interstate Highway 10, and is traveling north in the area of the 498-mile marker and Duderstadt Road, according to the Gillespie County Communications Center.

Authorities said evacuations are taking place for Duderstadt Road. Residents north of I-10 or north of Duderstadt Road are asked to prepare to evacuate if needed.

“Those in the area of Thrill Hill may need to evacuate also. This is very preliminary information, but this fire is spreading,” The Gillespie County Communications Center said.
