Most will go their entire life without needing to use it. What am I getting at? We spend much more time carrying our CCW than using it. This is why comfort plays such a large role in concealed carry. Some have more or less tolerance to handgun size and weight, but everyone wants to be comfortable.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>If you can comfortably carry a full-size or compact <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cheaperthandirt.com\/firearms\/handguns\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">handgun<\/a> all day, every day, that\u2019s great. However, for the average carrier, this is too cumbersome. After getting my LTC, all I had was a Glock 19. I made due and carried it every day for about two years. Thickness and weight were my main concerns. I began to test some of the popular subcompacts, micro 9s, carry .380s, and snub nose <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cheaperthandirt.com\/firearms\/handguns\/revolvers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">revolvers<\/a> to see what would work best for me. Additionally, carrying on the waistband, though made easier by a smaller pistol, was still causing some discomfort. The pistol will not only need to fit in your pocket, it will need to do so discreetly, without obviously bulging and printing. What caliber are you comfortable with? These are a couple things you should consider. There are tons of great pocket carry guns, but we\u2019ll take a look at some of the most popular options.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It seems every firearm company nowadays is making a micro 9. Most run accurately and reliably, it\u2019ll be up to you to decide which one fits your hand or you shoot best. However, these are right on the line of pocket carry. Depending on the size of your pockets, they may or may not fit without printing, if at all.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>For something smaller, there are plenty of great .380s and even some smaller 9mm options. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cheaperthandirt.com\/ruger-lcp-max-.380-acp-semi-auto-pistol-2.8-barrel-10-rounds-matte-black-finish\/FC-736676137169.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ruger LCP Max<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cheaperthandirt.com\/glock\/firearms\/handguns\/?brand=GLOCK\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Glock 42<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cheaperthandirt.com\/diamondback-db9-gen.-4-9mm-luger-semi-auto-pistol-black\/FC-810035752566.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Diamondback DB9<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cheaperthandirt.com\/kahr-arms-cm9-9mm-luger-3-barrel-6-rounds-stainless-slide\/FC-602686067317.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Kahr CM9<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cheaperthandirt.com\/beretta-3032-tomcat-covert-.32-acp-semi-auto-pistol-2.9-threaded-barrel-7-rounds-walnut-grips-fixed-sights-bluedblack-anodized-finish\/FC-082442933825.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Beretta Tomcat<\/a> (.32 ACP) are incredibly small and easy to carry. Most of your snub nose revolvers will be chambered in .38 Special or .357 Magnum, but you will also see .327 Fed Mag, 9mm, and .22s.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>If you find yourself only able to carry the smallest of firearms, there are some tiny options that will disappear in almost any pocket. These will typically be chambered in .22 LR or .22 WMR. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cheaperthandirt.com\/standard-manufacturing-switch-gun-.22-wmr-single-action-revolver-5-rounds\/FC-854581007824.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Standard Manufacturing Switch Gun<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cheaperthandirt.com\/trailblazer-firearms-lifecard-.22-lr-break-action-handgun-2.5-barrel-1-round-anodized-aluminum-black-finish\/FC-864845000300.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Trailblazer LifeCard<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cheaperthandirt.com\/north-american-arms\/firearms\/handguns\/?brand=NorthAmericanArms\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">NAA Mini Revolver<\/a> are worthy contenders. Although some consider these novelty guns, they have some self-defense merit.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Holsters<\/h2>\n<p>A good <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cheaperthandirt.com\/parts-and-accessories\/holsters\/holsters-by-carry-positions\/inside-the-pocket\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">holster<\/a> is essential for safe carry because it will cover the trigger and prevent a negligent discharge. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cheaperthandirt.com\/sticky-holsters\/parts-and-accessories\/holsters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sticky Holsters<\/a> makes a simple and inexpensive option constructed of a thick nylon fabric with a rubbery \u201csticky\u201d outer texture to keep the holster in the pocket during the draw. These \u201cuniversal fit\u201d holsters are available for different size handguns, but offer very little retention. Kydex tends to be thinner and more durable. I stay away from leather as it tends to add bulk and make my leg sweat. The trick is making sure the design allows you to retrieve the pistol from your pocket without taking the holster with it. The gun does you no good if it\u2019s stuck in the holster. Most pocket holsters will feature a sort of wing that will hook into the edge of your pocket to catch the holster as you draw the pistol.<\/p>\n<p>One good minimalist option is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cheaperthandirt.com\/raven-concealment-systems\/parts-and-accessories\/holsters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">trigger guard cover<\/a> with string. This is a Kydex guard that snaps over your trigger guard to cover the trigger and nothing else. It is secured to the belt with a loop of cord and then tucked into the waistband or pocket. The cord attaches the holster to the belt so that it is peeled away during the draw stroke.
