Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) wants to follow Donald Trump and become President of the United States.
Greene, according to a Wednesday report from Notus, is plotting a 2028 presidential run, with one source saying she believes she is “real MAGA and that [other Republicans] have strayed.”
The report, based on four sources familiar with MTG’s thinking, noted she is also “trying to connect with a more national audience outside of the hardcore MAGA base,” in order to appeal to a mass audience.
Notus pointed to her recent appearances on Bill Maher’s Real Time on HBO, The View, and CNN as clear indicators Greene wants to win over anti-Trump Americans. Greene, the report also noted, has been increasingly critical of her own party — and there are plenty of recent examples to point to.
MTG, on last week’s episode of Real Time, bashed Republicans for not having a “plan” to replace Obamacare, which she said made her “angry.”
She has also called male Republican congress members “weak,” slammed GOP lawmakers for having “no plan” to end the government shutdown, and criticized the GOP for, in her view, dragging its feet on releasing files on sex criminal Jeffrey Epstein.
One of the Notus sources said that MTG feels she has the “national donor network to win” the Republican primary. It also pointed out she dodged a question on running, during an October appearance on comic Tim Dillon’s podcast.
“Oh my goodness. I hate politics so much, Tim,” Greene said. “People are saying that, and I’ve seen a few people saying ‘she’s running’… What I’m doing right now is I very much want to fix problems. That’s honestly all I care about.”
Some of the people closest to her, though, believe she cares about winning the ’28 election as well. Greene and her reps did not respond to Notus when asked for comment.
