President Donald Trump called for the “animal” career criminal who murdered Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska aboard a North Carolina train to be executed on Tuesday morning.
The president, in a post on his Truth Social platform, said there is “no other option” for the Decarlos Brown Jr., the 34-year-old schizophrenic who stabbed Zarutska multiple times and left her for dead aboard a Charlotte train last month.
“The ANIMAL who so violently killed the beautiful young lady from Ukraine, who came to America searching for peace and safety, should be given a ‘Quick’ (there is no doubt!) Trial, and only awarded THE DEATH PENALTY,” Trump posted. “There can be no other option!!! PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP.”
Surveillance footage of the savage attack went viral on X last weekend, outraging many on the platform and leading several prominent conservatives, including Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), to question why the mainstream media was not covering the slaying.
President Trump, before his latest Truth post, weighed in on the murder multiple times this week. On Monday, Trump said the video of the attack was “so horrible” that it was unwatchable, while extending his “love and hope” to the family of 23-year-old Zarutksa. Then on Tuesday, he released a two minute video on The White House’s X account, ripping Democratic mayors for allowing “bloodthirsty criminals to prey on innocent people” in Charlotte and other major cities.
Many people besides Trump have been questioning how Brown was able to sit behind Zarutska on the train in the first place. He has a long list of violent and non-violent crimes on his record, including robbery with a dangerous weapon, felony larceny, and breaking and entering. Brown showed no remorse after attacking Zarutska, and was caught on camera saying he “got that white girl” afterwards.
