Weekend Watch: 4th of July Celebrations and Austin FC

AUSTIN (KXAN) – The one weekend when almost everyone will be out and about, as many cities will be holding Fourth of July events, along with an Austin FC game and a Midsummer Fest.

Weekend Forecast

This weekend will be much drier than what we’ve seen all week. Temperatures are expected to reach the upper 90s and low triple digits by the time we reach Sunday. With little rain chances, take advantage of the weekend, but be sure to stay hydrated through the summer months.

July 4th Parade & Frontier Days

Round Rock is throwing their Independence Day celebration lasting all day long and ending with fireworks and a concert by the Elevation Band. Taking place on July fourth, the event kicks off at 8:30 a.m. with the Sertoma Parade in Downtown Round Rock. At noon, the Frontier Days will open at Settlers Park, which includes Swifty Swine Pig Races, a Pepper Eating Contest, Free Ice Cream, and performances by the Austin Symphonic Band.

Fireworks will start at dusk with the final performance at 10 p.m. by the Elevation Band. There will also be a carnival, inflatables, and so much more. For more information and for a complete schedule, be sure to visit their website.

Red, White, and Buda

Those in Hays County are ready for a celebration of their own with the Red, White, and Buda, a family-friendly and fun event for everyone. Kicking off at 9 a.m. with the Downtown Bike Parade. The festivities will pick up again at 4 p.m. at City park and will include cornhole, rock wall climbing, bounce houses, sand volleyball, and plenty of food to enjoy. At 7:30 p.m., Aaron Watson will take the stage at the Buda Amphitheater. This all wraps up with the Fireworks Show at 9:15 p.m. The entire event will be free. Austin Star Spangled Fest

A celebration worthy of an entire day of events in Austin, on the Fourth of July, will kick off in style. The Morning Spin will start the festivities from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Auditorium Shores. There will be house music, craft coffee, cold drinks, local food trucks, and more. Then, at 4:30 p.m., the celebration continues with musicians taking the stage, a taco eating contest at 7:30 p.m., the Austin Symphony Orchestra at 8:30 p.m., and a fireworks show at 9:30 p.m. Tickets are needed for both morning and evening events. Austin FC

Austin FC is ready to score a win as they take on the Los Angeles Football Club this Saturday, July 5. Los Angeles Football Club is ranked 7th in the Western Conference, with Austin FC currently ranked 9th. The game kicks off at 7:30 p.m. with post-game fireworks expected. Midsummer Festival

Local Ukrainian communities gather together for a free, family-friendly event with plenty of Ukrainian food, music, and games. Called “Midsummer Festival,” The event is all to celebrate Ukrainian culture. Kicking off on Sunday, July 6, from 5 p.m. through 9 p.m., the Sunflower Ranch will be transformed with fun things to do, including a 30-minute yoga class, arts and crafts, seasonal games for kids and adults, and plenty of food and drinks. Plus, music and poetry, along with plenty of vendors. This will also serve as a fundraiser for Liberty Ukraine, a non-profit organization supporting people who have been affected by the war.
