Workers of the world, unite — and dress nicely, if you can afford it.
That appears to be Zohran Mamdani’s approach, with Puck reporting on Wednesday that the New York City mayor-to-be has been “working with” Bailey Moon, a fashion stylist with a star-studded list of clients. The democratic socialist’s wife, Rama Duwaji, has been getting fashion tips as well.
Moon has worked with a number of celebrities, including Hollywood stars Diane Lane, Pamela Anderson, Zachary Quinto, Rebecca Hall, and her husband, actor Morgan Spector.
He has also dressed Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) and former first lady Jill Biden, with Moon saying on Instagram it was the “honor of a lifetime” to serve as the “wardrobe advisor” to Biden.
The outlet reported Moon has “once again hit the mark” with how he dressed Mamdani and Duwaji. Here is how Puck described it:
Mamdani’s appearance—a dorky hipster under simple, nicely fitting suits—certainly did not detract from the message. And Duwaji, dressed to look like she’d be best friends with Kaitlin Phillips—downright conservative in that old-timey, Desert Vintage sort of way—is making it work, too. There’s also the matter of ensuring that the wares reflect the message. You cannot really dress a socialist in Chanel… or maybe you can.”
A rep for Moon did not immediately respond to Mediaite’s request for details on how much his services cost.
Mamdani, as a state assemblyman, makes $142,000 a year. And he will be able to splurge a bit more on clothes, if he wants, with his salary moving up to $258,750 when he becomes mayor.
Then again, his critics have pointed out that the “champagne socialist” does not need to lean on his salary. His mom, Mira Nair, is a successful filmmaker and his dad is a professor at Columbia University.
And if this sounds a bit familiar, it might be because you saw a different Bailey Moon go viral on X last week for saying she voted for Mamdani:
President Donald Trump, in semi-related news, bashed Mamdani for his “dangerous” and “angry” victory speech on Wednesday.
