4-year-old dies days after crash involving APD vehicle

Date:

AUSTIN (KXAN) — On Tuesday, the Austin Police Department said a 4-year-old girl died following a March 10 three-vehicle crash in north Austin that involved an APD patrol vehicle.

The department said the patrol vehicle was responding to a call with its lights and sirens activated when a vehicle pulled out from a private drive in front of the patrol vehicle, resulting in the crash.

Austin-Travis County EMS responded to the 8900 block of N. Lamar Boulevard for the crash and took a child, later identified as 4-year-old Gracy Gomez Andres, to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

According to APD, Gracy later died on March 14 from her injuries.

The adult who was traveling with Gracy was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and the APD officer involved had serious, non-life-threatening injuries. APD said the two people who were in the third vehicle were not injured.

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 16th fatal crash of 2025, resulting in 20 fatalities.
