AUSTIN (KXAN) — A chilly start to the day (and spring season!) as morning lows hover in the 30s and 40s. A jacket will be needed for most but there’s a good chance you won’t need it all day.
Today will be sunny, dry and calm as wind speeds will be much lighter than the last few days. Spring begins at 4:01 a.m. Thursday marking the moment the sun is directly over the equator.
Gusty winds return on Friday pushing us back into the 80s, but the southerly wind will also usher in slowly increasing humidity levels. Still, the wind may result in an increased fire danger.
This weekend will turn much warmer as highs push into the upper 80s ahead of our next cold front. That front brings the possibility of thunderstorms, possibly severe, Sunday evening into the early morning hours of Monday.

Still…rain chances remain at just 20-30% leaving most of the area dry.
