Bee swarm in Taylor contained, 1 person stung, officials say

Date:

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The city of Taylor said one person was stung by a bee after beekeepers were called to tame an active swarm on Wednesday afternoon.

A social media post from the city said at the time, the bee swarm was active near the corner of 3rd, 4th and Vance. The city told citizens to avoid the area for beekeepers to rescue the swarm.

At 4:09 p.m., beekeepers were on scene and emergency personnel closed portions of the area, the post said. At 4:43 p.m., the bees were “largely contained and have calmed,” according to the post. Roads have reopened for citizens, however, the city said to continue to be cautious in the area.

“At this time we are aware of one person having been stung. This is not a common occurrence in Taylor but we understand it is common in the beekeeping industry. We hope to learn more from the beekeepers who respond to the swarm.”
